Goodbye, Summer Mess: 7 Spots in Your Home Begging for a September Reset

Summer was fun. Your house has the evidence.

Between open windows, backyard traffic, vacation unpacking, kids heading back to school, and pets confidently distributing fur everywhere, September is a perfect time for a home reset. You don’t need a weekend-long cleaning marathon, either. Focus on the places that collected the most summer chaos.

Start with the entryway. Shoes track in dirt faster than anyone admits. Sweep with Big Angle Broom to loose debris and pay attention to corners, baseboards, and underneath shoe racks.

Next: the floors. Before wet mopping, remove dust, crumbs, and hair. The Lola Flexible Dust Mop is designed to maneuver around and under furniture, making it useful for collecting the debris hiding beneath sofas and tables before you mop.

Give the kitchen a reset. Wipe refrigerator handles, cabinet fronts, counters, and the mysterious sticky patch that has somehow survived since July. Keep Wowables® reusable Swedish dish cloths nearby for everyday spills and wipe-downs rather than automatically reaching for disposable paper towels.

Then tackle the bathroom. Scrub the sink, faucets, tub, and shower surfaces with the Lola Iron Handled Scrubber. Remember: tougher isn’t always better. Use non-scratch options on surfaces that could be damaged by abrasive scourers.

Dust overlooked surfaces. Lampshades, windowsills, picture frames, vents, and ceiling-fan areas can accumulate more dust than expected during summer. Lola Jumbo microfiber cloths can be used dry for dusting or damp for cleaning.

Don’t forget under the furniture. If you haven’t looked underneath the sofa since spring, prepare yourself emotionally.

Finally, refresh your cleaning supplies themselves. Wash reusable cloths and mop heads, replace exhausted sponges, and check whether your Sticky Mop, sponge mop, or other tools need refills.

September cleaning isn’t about making your house showroom-perfect. It’s about clearing out summer’s leftovers and making everyday cleaning easier as routines get busy again.

Consider it a seasonal reset—with significantly less drama than reorganizing your entire closet.
